AFM Wheel Power 2022
A cycling fundraiser initiative with the objective of encouraging an active lifestyle for arthritis patients and increasing awareness on arthritis.
Aims and Objectives
About five in 1000 Malaysians aged between 18 to 34 is affected by rheumatoid arthritis. As arthritis is a chronic degenerative condition that can cost from RM30,000 to RM50,000 a year for effective medication and treatment, most patients are forced to live in constant pain due to the inability to sustain its cost.
To date, the Arthritis Foundation Malaysia (AFM) has been able to extend treatment funding support applied by a few arthritis patients for a period of 3-6 months. However, to sustainably provide this funding programme for more patients, continuous fundraising efforts need to be in place, hence the launching of AFM Wheel Power 2022 with an intention of subsequently hosting it annually.
Through this debut event, AFM Wheel Power 2022 aims to raise RM300,000 for the Arthritis Treatment Fund that is meant to assist patients who cannot afford treatment.
Supported by our Patron, Toh Puan Dato’ Seri Hjh Dr Aishah Ong, AFM Wheel Power 2022 is designed for arthritis patients and caregivers, and will also be opened to the general public to participate. Besides being a cycling event for both cycling enthusiasts and fun-riders, it will also feature a host of exciting and engaging community circle activities that the whole family can enjoy.
